Mozilla Firefox being open source browser is on rapid release schedule which means that the browser is now more frequently updated than ever before. Sometimes, it becomes annoying for people to download the newer or the latest version and then install it. If you own a company and you want to keep all your systems updated with latest firefox without any hassle, follow the steps mentioned below.
- GO to Firefox menu/tools – Options – Advanced.
- Under Firefox updates, Chose automatically install updates. Also select automatic updates for addons and search engines.
With the method given above, Mozilla firefox would automatically try to connect to firefox download servers for any update. This method also saves from downloading fresh and full setup file saving the bandwith by downloading only the changed or the updated part.
Sometimes, even when automatic updates are enabled, firefox fails to update itself to the latest version itself. In such case, just go to Firefox menu/tools – Help – About Firefox . A new dialog box will appear with details about firefox, just below the firefox version, you’ll see a notification stating that the firefox is checking for updates, let it complete and if any newer version is available, it would show you so that you will be able to click on Apply update option then.
If you have the full fresh update setup of firefox, just launch the executable, hit on next button and click on upgrade option. You may be required to close firefox browser if already running at the time of installation.
If you don’t want to update firefox (sometimes you do want to stick to the old version of firefox ), just disable the automatic update by unticking options as mentioned in steps above to enable the same.
